Welcome to our February 2007 Newsletter !!

Hello again from the team at MGM Spares!

We hope you are all enjoying Rob Thommason's Mog Blog, we have had lots of positive feed back from visitors who seem to enjoy it!

Well as we write this message the snow is laying thick on the ground and it's hard to believe that shortly we will be getting our cars ready for the show season.

If you use your car during the winter, here is a tip for looking after your chrome work. As we all know the salt in the grit that is on the roads helps to corrode the chrome work, one way of protecting the chrome work is to simply spray some WD40 or Silicone onto the chrome during the winter period.

When the warmer weather comes along (for two weeks in August!) you can then just wipe it of with a cloth to reveal your nice shiny chrome work.

Parts News

The price increase in raw materials is regrettably having an impact on some of our prices. No doubt you have all read about the Chinese buying up all the worlds metal, well this has had a huge effect on copper prices which is why the price of our Brake pipe kits and Fuel pipes (both made of copper) has increased. As ever we will do our best to keep the prices down so please bare with us!

At long last the 2dr & Traveller full door skins are available (Part No PAN803 & PAN804) the price on these are now £139.50 + vat each. If you are thinking of repairing your doors you have two options.

If you are paying a garage to repair your doors you would be better of buying the full door skins, as by using the full door skins the garage will be able to repair your doors much more quickly therefore saving you money on there labour cost's.

If you are repairing the doors yourself you could use the repair sections (Part No CHS095 & CHS096) these parts repair the bottom section of the door skin which is the part which generally rust's. However it is a very, very labour intensive job to fit these repair sections and therefore you should not ask a garage to fit these for you.

Ultimately you will get a better job if you use the complete door skins, but it's all down to your budget!

If you are getting a loud bang coming from the front of your car every time you go over a bump it could be that your re-bound check rubbers are missing(Part No SUS121). These rubbers are fitted on the domed section of the inner wing underneath the front shock absorber arm.

They are prone for falling of and when they do every time you go over a bump a banging noise can be heard as a result of the Shock absorber arm hitting the metal of the inner wing, instead of the rubber of the rebound check rubber.

Well that's all for now folks!

Best regards

From all the team at MGM Spares.
